Neighborhood

Wander the cobbled streets of Lincoln’s unique Cathedral Quarter for an experience of culture, cuisine, and history you won’t forget.

Crowned by the awe-inspiring Lincoln Cathedral and its near neighbour Lincoln Castle, the Cathedral Quarter is home to an abundance of independent retailers, a tempting selection of places to eat and drink in and luxurious, independent hotels and guest houses.

Explore Steep Hill, Find The Strait, climb Steep Hill, and explore Bailgate – the village in the city.

THINGS TO DO

Set on cobbled streets with a quaint yet historic atmosphere, the Cathedral Quarter is both unique and vibrant. Castle Square nestles between Lincoln Cathedral and Lincoln Castle – including the 1215 Magna Carta –  and is home to the Visitor Information Centre and regular farmers’, antiques and artists’ markets.

To the north is the famous Bailgate shopping area and you can find the award-winning Steep Hill to the south.

EVENTS AND MARKETS

The annual highlight of the Cathedral Quarter is the Lincoln Christmas Market as the streets, public spaces and the centre of Lincoln Castle come to life with stall and food courts.

Time your visit right throughout the year and you can browse a variety of markets, sing along with buskers and cheer on participants in the many sporting events that culminate in Castle Square.

EATING & DRINKING

For a truly unique experience of the Cathedral Quarter, dine in the shadow of Lincoln Cathedral at The Green Room and move on to the adjoining vibrant Bar ’67: a classy night out.

Stay with stunning cathedral views at our cottage, just a stone’s throw from the cathedral, castle, and Steep Hill.
